With this tour you will have the chance to visit the unknown area of the Northwest of Argentina, “the real Puna”. Drive at the high desert through landscapes that make you feel in another planet. If the Northwest of Argentina is a place to be discovered, the Puna of this region should be called the hidden jewel.

Day 1 - Buenos Aires

Arrival and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we suggest city tour: This tour gives you the emotion of a multiple Buenos Aires. We will visit the most characteristic places of the “Paris of America”. The Obelisk, Colon Theatre, Recoleta Cemetery, May square (surrounded by the cathedral, the Cabildo, and the pink house where the president works) are some of the highlights that we will include in the tour. We will also visit La Boca neighborhood which was seat of immigrants – mainly Italians – and now home of some artists; San Telmo, traditional neighborhood where Tango performances can be seen in many bars and restaurants; the elegant Recoleta, and the most modern: Puerto Madero. At night we suggest going to a Tango Show.

Day 2 - Buenos Aires - Salta

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Flight to Salta. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 - Salta - San Antonio de los Cobres

Breakfast. Passing by Abra de Alto Chorrillos 4560 m.s.n.m., Salar de Pocitos, 7 Curvas, Desierto del Diablo y Salar del Diablo. Arrival to Tolar Grande at 6.00 pm. Accomodation at Refugio Departure from Salta towards San Antonio de los Cobres at 3.350 msnm, along Quebrada del Toro, on the parallel route of the famous Train to the Clouth. After crossing “Abra Blanca” (4.080 msnm) you will observe the first panoramic view of tha “puna”. Arrival at San Antonio de los Cobres. Continuing towards Tolar Grande (3.700 msnm) we will go through Salar de Pocitos, Siete Curvas and Desierto del Diablo Arrival to Tolar Grande. Overnight at Refugio Municipal in Tolar Grande.

Day 4 - Tolar Grande

Visit to Salar de Arizaro, it is one of the most extensive salt flats with a surface of 2.000 km2, at 3.460 msnm. Inside the salt flat is Cono de Arita a curious mountain structure with a perfect conic form. During the afternoon visit Ojo de Mar, deep water pools formed at the salt flat because of the water that descends from serranía del Macon. Overnight at Refugio Municipal in Tolar Grande.

Day 5 - Tolar Grande – San Antonio de los Cobres

Breakfast. Return after breakfast. Lunch at San Antonio de los Cobres located 164 km NE of Salta City at 4.000 msnm. Overnight at San Antonio de los Cobres.

Day 6 - San Antonio de los Cobres - Purmamarca

Breakfast. The trip begins in Salta towards the Tastil Ruins arriving to San Antonio de los Cobres, after a two hours stop for lunch and a short visit the town. We continue our trip along Route 40 crossing one of the most desertic areas of our country. Soon, and already in the province of Jujuy, we arrive to Salinas Grandes (The Great Salt Flat), where the inmensity of the area, the white shiny salt invites you to relax and take good shots. We continue down the Lipán Cliff arriving to Purmamarca, one of the typical town of Humahuaca Gorge with its Seven Colors Hill and the enchant of the small houses.

Day 7 - Purmamarca - Salta

Breakfast. We will observe the Seven Colored Hill, the Church and the Craft Market on the square, and a small walk along it ́s narrow streets. We continue towards the town of Tilcara where we visit the Pucará (ancient ruins), the Archaeological Museum, and Huacalera, then we cross the Capricorn Tropic, from where the colors of La Pollera del Coya Hill can be seen and really good pictures taken because of the daylight. We visit Uquía and its church, where the paintings of the  Arcabuceros Angels (important vestige in the zone of the Cuzqueña School) are kept. Arrival to Humahuaca will be at noon, this town has an important Church and the Independence Monument (the Indian) of the sculptor Soto Avendaño. After lunch we’ll observe , from the route, La Paleta del Pintor (Painter’s Palette) framing the town of Maimara. We continue to San Salvador de Jujuy where the Flag Hall and the Cathedral, characterized by its pulpit carved in wood and gold and the statues of Lola Mora are visited. Finally, we return to Salta through National Route N° 9 of abundant subtropical vegetation.

Day 8 - Salta - Cafayate

The journey starts from Salta city to the south, along route 68 through the Lerma Valley and its historical towns. We reach Quebrada de las Conchas (the Shell ́s Gorge), where wind and water erosion carved curious shapes on the rocks (The Amphitheater, ́Devils throat, The Toad, The Castles, among others). When we arrive to Cafayate, we visit some wineries, famous for their production of Torrontes, with special characteristics due to the particularities of the climate and land.After lunch we return to Salta through the Quebrada de las Conchas (the Shells ́ Gorge) and the Lerma Valley.

Day 9 - Cafayate - Salta

Breakfast. Return to Salta. Arrival. Day at leisure. We suggest a horse Bike riding at De Lerma Valley: A horse riding adventure at a ranch 40 km south of Salta City. The rides will take you through spectacular local valley scenery and into the mountains. Guides will share their knowledge of the local flora, fauna and agriculture as well as the gaucho culture and much more. All levels of experienced are ok.

Day 10 - Salta - Buenos Aires

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival and transfer to Ezeiza International airport.
